The Chepstow Pontoon has been removed for winter for vital maintanace and repairs. The walkway and pontoons need more work than we had been prepared for. The main walkway will need to be replaced and both Pontoon sections need a lot of work to complete before being returned to the water. If you would like to donate to much needed repairs or if you feel a company can assist in providing steel work etc. please contact chairman@chepstowboatclub.co.uk.
The Chepstow Pontoon was provided by Chepstow Boat Club and its members. It is there for the community to use but we are always grateful for donations to keep this facility.
The Pontoon is currently undergoing overdue repair and maintenance works. Including requiring a new walkway so we can provide the last access point to the river wye.
Pontoon Update: February 2026
On the 16th of November 2024 Chepsotw Boat club members with help removed the clubs Pontoon form Chepstow for long overdue maintanance. The main walkway was in far worst than previous thought. So after over a year of work from many members of the club trying to raise funds for a new walkway with many thanks from various help and donations from the generous community and club we have now secured the help of R&R Site Services in Caldicot to build a new walkway.
The aim is to get stage one of the Pontoon back in position on the river at the Back in Chepstow., towards the end of March 2026. With the hope of being operational some time in April. Stage 1 will consist of the New 12 metre walkway and a refurbished inner Pontoon section. Which is almost complete with the thanks of Club memebers who have painstakingly rebuilt the pontoon section.
